Balendra Shah, popularly known as Balen, is a structural engineer, rapper, and politician who became Nepal's youngest Prime Minister at age 35. Born in Naradevi, Kathmandu, he holds a master's degree in structural engineering and gained national fame through his hip-hop music addressing social issues. He served as the 15th Mayor of Kathmandu (2022–2026) as the first independent candidate to hold the office, and emerged as a central figure during the 2025 Gen Z protests before joining the Rastriya Swatantra Party and leading it to a historic 182-seat supermajority in the 2026 general election.
