Biraj Bhakta Shrestha is a heritage conservation activist and politician serving as Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation. He grew up in the historic Basantapur area of Kathmandu and holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He entered politics through the Bibeksheel Nepali Dal in 2017 and was elected to the Bagmati Provincial Assembly before joining the RSP. He previously served as Minister for Youth and Sports, where he reformed the sports sector and established an Anti-Doping Agency. He won Kathmandu-8 decisively in 2026 with 24,592 votes and also founded the environmental campaign organization Force Nepal.
