Sumnima Udas

Biography

Sumnima Udas is a journalist and former CNN International correspondent who became a proportional representation lawmaker. As CNN’s Delhi-based correspondent she covered key political, economic, social and environmental stories in India and reported on high-profile cases such as the Delhi gangrape and the 2014 Indian general elections. According to CNN’s profile she was awarded the Journalist of the Year prize at the Women’s Empowerment Journalism Awards in 2014 and shared a Cine Golden Eagle Award in 2012. Udas has a journalism degree from Lee University and a master’s degree from the University of Oxford.
