Janak Raj Giri is an educator and politician from Bajura district in the far‑western Sudurpaschim province. Before entering parliament he served as a college lecturer and was active in the local Nepali Congress organisation. In the 2082 BS federal election he won the Bajura‑1 seat with 17,173 votes, edging his nearest rival by 540 votes. Giri emphasises educational improvement and development of infrastructure in the remote region. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Tribhuvan University.
